Bengkung belly binding is a practice of tying a long strip of cloth around your entire torso during the postpartum recovery time to promote strong support to the womb following childbirth. The binding is typically worn during the first 44 days for 10-12 hours a day, you will decide what is most feasible for you. This is a traditional Malaysian belly binding method. This differs from other belly wraps or postpartum support corsets/girdles because of the length. This wrap spans from under the breasts to way down low on the hips, while most postpartum girdles only span the abdomen. When the wrap spans the torso you are benefited by encouraging the waist, ribcage and hips return to your normal. This also prevents the breastfeeding slouch as mom feeds the baby. The binding supports your posture, doesn't cause discomfort on the abdomen, and stays in place with movement. Your support person is encouraged to learn the binding to assist with you and I can teach you how to self bind. Your wrap will be yours to keep.
